Oh December!

Well, I am just a tad behind on my December Daily album, but I am planning on getting my pages caught up this afternoon.  I do have Day one completed, but I want to catch up to today, so I can show what I have been adding.  It's kind of hard right now, because Pat has been gone for training, so some of the things I would normally be doing the beginning of the month, I had to put on hold.  I can not get my decorations up, because they are stored way up high in the garage, and I am not taking any chances on trying to get the boxes down, being at the beginning of my 3rd trimester, so the decorating will just have to wait until Pat gets home, which will be this Friday, the 10th.

I have a Dr. appointment today to check on the little guy in my belly, and also need to stop at the store to pick up a few essentials, but the rest of the day I will be working on my album, at least that is the current plan.

Check back later for some pictures of my first few days of December!

December Daily 2010 - foundation pages and Jessica Sprague's Inspiration everywhere class

Okay, so I have been rather busy the last few days.  I have decided to take on the December Daily.  If you are unsure of exactly what that is, you should visit Ali Edwards site.  She came up with the idea about three years ago.  Although she has some products available, I decided to create my own foundation pages.  I purchased a 6x6 American Crafts D-ring album a while ago and never really used it, so I decided I was going to use it for this project.  I am trying to get the album ready, so when the 1st of December hits, all I will have to add each day are some photos and some journaling.

Here is a picture of the cover of my album:

I used a variety of supplies for the cover.  The patterned paper is from "Dashes Through the Snow", a digital paper pack from Echo park available at JessicaSprague.com.  I plan on using this paper pack for the majority of the patterned and solid papers I use in this album.  The tag is also digital, from "Build Your Own Fancy Labels" by Zoe Pearn.  I altered the colors in PSE and printed it out on white cardstock, then cut it out.   I added a rub-on to the label from Memory Makers that I bought years ago.  I gave it some bling with some self adhesive pearls.  The ribbon is from a collection of "Adornments" fibers, which I also bought a few years ago.  I colored the chipboard numbers with Real Red ink from SU and I also sponged the same ink on the edges of the paper.  The back of the album is the same paper and ribbon.

For the insides I printed out another piece of patterned paper from the EP paper pack.

The rest of the album, which I am still working on.  Will be a mixture of transparent pages dispersed between my foundation pages.  As I add my daily photos once December starts, you will be able to see those pages.  I have not finished all my transparency pages yet.  I am hoping I can finish before Wednesday, because I have a long way to go, but I need to get ink for my printer!

For my foundation pages, I created my own in PSE.  The border is from a brush set I picked up at Sweet Shoppe Designs called "Doodates" by Shawna Clingerman.  The number and letters are a font I found for free at dafont.com called "Chocolate Box".  I saved the files I created as a PDF and printed them out on Very Vanilla cardstock.

Here is a closer look at the numbered side:

It does look plain at the moment, but once I get my transparent pages in place and add the photos and journaling, it will look much better!!

Inspiration Everywhere
I have also been working on a project for a free class that Jessica Sprague is offering at her site, called "Inspiration Everywhere".  Our first project is an art journal.  I have my cover page done, which was easy because she provided a cover, which I just altered a bit to the colors I wanted.

The first page of the journal is a Dedication page.  I used the images she provided with no alteration and added my "dedication" in the pocket.

As long as I can get to the store tomorrow and find the ink I need for my printer, my goal is to finish up my transparent pages for my December Daily album.  I also need to squeeze in time to work on my Christmas Cards!!  I may have to go the easy route this year and do most of the designing on the computer and just add some embellishments once they are printed.   I am still debating that one though.  I would really like to stamp my cards, oh well, we shall see!

Thanks for stopping by!!

From drab to fab!

I wanted to make my mom a small album with some photos of our recent trip to the pumpkin patch.  However, I did not have time to create an entire mini scrapbook album.  So, I printed out the best pictures from that day and put them in a small 4X6 photo album.  I picked up the album a while ago for $1.00, but it was pink and just not what I wanted, so what is a girl to do??  Why recover it, of course!

I used a variety of supplies for this project.  I took some of my SU cardstock to cover the front, back and spine.  I found a really nice digital kit online that I plan on using to create my own scrapbook, so I used some papers and images from that kit.  I also found some cool word art online as well and used that for the cover.  I attached some SU ribbon to help keep the album closed if you were to stand it up for displaying.  The ribbon is adhered to the back, but is loose enough to slip on and off.  Although this doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" of a scrapbook you would typically see, it is still a scrapbook, :)

Here is the original album:

Community housing fall festival

The military housing we live in put on a "Fall Festival" today from 2-4pm.  They had a bounce house, one small ride for the kids, caricature artists, a reptile exhibit and food and other cool goodies.  They had a costume contest also and Kylie wanted to dress up as a fairy.  I took a ton of pictures of her, but this one is by far my favorite!!

Saturday ramblings

It is just one of those days where all I want to do is lay around, but I know I need to get some things accomplished.  My list is huge, but at this point, as long as I get one thing of that list, I will be happy.

We live in military housing and community center is having a "Fall Festival" today. It sounds like fun, so I think I will head over there with Kylie later this afternoon. Pat is hunting with his brother, so it will just be my and Kylie.

I want to work on some more cards and try and finish up that "decorate a house" I have been working on. Not to mention, work on some scrapbooks, I am so far behind and about to have another little one in a few months. In addition to all my crafting endeavors, of course, I have dishes, laundry, etc. to take care of.

I placed another SU order yesterday. I only ordered a few things this time, but the owl punch was on my order this time. I can't wait to use it, only because I have seen the numerous ways people have used it, but making things other than owls with it. I happen to have a few of my own ideas as well, :) Of course, I probably won't get it until the end of next week, due to the clearance rack blitz still in effect, but I have plenty of other things to work on, :)

So many ideas...

..okay, well, needless to say I did not get a chance to finish working on my decorate a house from Stampin' UP! Hubby went hunting with his brother today, so it was like any other day for me trying to entertain Kylie. We did manage to make it to Micheal's this morning as I had a 50% of coupon I wanted to use.

I tried working on a prototype for a project idea, but Kylie decided that I should help her make a paper house. I told her that Daddy would help her when she got home, because by this point in the day, I was pretty much spent. My prototype ended up in Kylie's hands because it looked nothing like what I was envisioning, but I am will probably work on it tomorrow, since hubby has the day off, I can get some time to myself. I plan on heading out to the craft stores again tomorrow, to see if I can find something else to use that 50% off coupon again. I print them off the internet because you can use one a day for the days they are good for, :)

I started my next list for my next SU order. I am waiting til next week to place this one, because I know SU will be offering a few "bundles" at a discount. I will be posting more about those offers when the time comes. You won't want to miss them!!

I am hoping I can sit down tomorrow and work on some of the ideas that are floating around in my head. We shall see how the day unfolds tomorrow, :)

Back to posting

After a long absence, I am hoping I can make some daily posts.  Lots of changes have been happening.  For one, I am 16 weeks pregnant!

As of this past Friday, I quit my full time job to stay at home with my soon to be five year old daughter and get ready for the arrival of the new little one.  Of course, this will giving my much more time to create and share all my projects that I have been thinking of.  I may even have some to share tomorrow, but I do need to get my house clean first, :)

Well, I am off to bed, tomorrow is the beginning of a new routine.

New pictures

Hello everyone!! It has been a while since I posted pictures.  I fell way behind on keeping up with project 365, but I did take some photos recently and these are my favorites and I just had to share.

We have been having more than our normal amount of rainy days here in San Diego.  A few days ago while getting ready to leave for school, Kylie had me take some pics of her in her rain gear.  Yes, she is always asking me to take her picture, which for me is a good thing, :)

We went to the zoo a few weekends ago and I got a few nice pics.  I would have taken more, but my camera battery died and my spare was at home on the charger.   There is an area near where they have some of the monkeys and they have a "garden" of insect eating plants.  I snapped a few shots of the flowers that were there.

Some friends of ours were married over the weekend at South Coast Winery in Temecula.  It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony.  I was delighted that I could capture a picture of the snow capped mountains, while the air around me was a toasty 80 degrees.

Anna is the beautiful bride in the carriage.  I did not get to take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I love how this one turned out.

February

So, I let the month of February get away from me, however, I plan on picking back up with Project 365 in March.  Alhtough I may not end up with 365 photos, that is okay.  I just enjoy taking photos and playing around with them in photoshop to make them pop.   I need to take pictures of the cute little badge album I made and get them up here too.

Project 365 - Days 24-31

Day 24 -  Kylie wanted me to take a picture of her and her pink bear on the rocking chair.

Day 25 - We celebrated a co-workers birthday where I work.

Day 26 - This is the view if you stand outside my door and look to the west.  I took this picture early in the morning.  I thought the sky looked really cool.
Day 27 - It was a little chilly as we were getting ready to leave for the morning.  Kylie wanted me to wrap her up in a blanket.  Of course, chilly in San Diego is like 45 degrees, LOL.
Day 28 - I was on my way to go pick up Kylie after work and as I was stopped at this intersection, I noticed the moon was visible and I thought it was a cool picture with the flag in the foreground.

Day 29 - Kylie does not wear glasses, but she does have a pair that she uses for dress up.
Day 30 - I am now on book 3 of the Twilight saga and I am hooked!
Day 31 - This is the angel that hangs on the wall near my front door.

Project 365 - Week 3 Layout

I am on a roll!! I am having so much fun taking my photos and creating the layouts. I can not wait til the end of the year!! I will have a complete year in pictures, as long as I keep it up, :)

Project 365 - Layout Week 2

I decided to go with a more simple layout and I will probably redo week one to match.  This makes it easy to have everything coordinate and it's much faster to put together, :)

Project 365 - Days 18-23

Day 18 - Pat with some of his buddies that got out of the Marines a few years ago and one who is still in and working on the V-22.  John, Max, Charlie, Pat and Kylie

Day 19 - Self portrait

Day 20 - Heidi, our Jack Russell Terrier, "sitting pretty" as we like to call it.

Day 21 - I gave up drinking soda, mainly because of the carbonation, not so much the sugar, so now, when I need something sweet, it's sweet tea, preferably Chick-Fil-A, :)

Day 22 - I have been carrying my "point and shoot" camera with me, just in case I see something interesting and I saw this "HUGE" cloud rising over San Diego.  It was to the east and most of the rain had passed us that day, but it was not your typical San Diego sky.   I wish I could have had a better angle, but I was in my truck and stopped at the light, so this was the best I could do.

Day 23 - My lovely black eye.  No one punched me, but I did have a fight with a booster seat.  I was picking Kylie up from her grandparents, we always have to transfer the seats, I was carrying her booster seat down the hill to put it in my truck.  It still has the back part attached and it "unhinged" and was hanging straight down, so to get it back to the "L" position, I swung it forward, hoping the seat would latch in to place.  I used more force than I intended because the seat was above my head and to the front of me, I grabbed with my other hand as quick as I could, but wasn't fast enough, down comes the upper portion of the seat back right on my cheekbone.  I instantly felt it swelling up.  At this point, I just wanted to get back to our house.  I put ice on it when I got home, but this is how it looked the next morning I woke up.  I hope it doesn't last too long!!

Project 365 - Days 13-17

Day 13 - Kylie thought she would surprise me by trying to hide among the coats on the coat rack, but as she popped out, I had my camera ready!

Day 14 - Kylie found my BIG sunglasses and was playing around with them, she wanted me to take some pics of her posing with them.

Day 15 - Today was pajama day at school for Kylie, and as usual, she had me take a picture, it's a good thing for me that she enjoys having her picture taken and she really knows how to ham it up too.

Day 16 - Pat and his big boy toy.   I bought him a remote control helicopter for his birthday, because that is what he said he wanted.

Day 17 - Kylie was "singing" and putting on a show for us.

Project 365 - Days 8-12

Day 8 - Pat will be gone during the week up until the end of February, so he was getting some play time in with Kylie.

Day 9 - Emily made these cute little penguin appetizers for my niece Jillian's birthday party.  There were so cute and tasted great!

Day 10 -  I took a picture of my "space" at work.  I use three different microscopes, the far left is my compound light microscope for identifying mold spores, the one to the right of my computer is my polarized light microscope used to identify asbestos fibers, and the scope under the hood at the far end is my stereoscope.

Day 11 -   I used the Grab application on my Macbook to capture the image of one my favorite digital scrapbook site, you may also notice the tab for my other addiction, facebook, :)

Day 12 - My keys!!  Once a Marine, always a Marine, and my keychains reflect that.  Whenever I think things are bad, I just remember what basic training was like and realize that it just isn't all that bad, if I can make it through that, I can make it through anything!!

Project 365 - Day 7

Day 7 - Toby taking a snooze, does not look comfortable at all

Project 365 - Days 4-6

Day 4 - Kylie is on this "cleaning" kick, she has a spray bottle with water and she grabs a dish towel and helps me clean.  Oh, I hope she likes to do this when she is older!!

Day 5  - I decided I would take a picture of my "crabs", LOL, yes, we have hermit crabs as pets.  It started out with one we bought last July while camping in Delaware, and now we have three.  One of the crabs is under the sand, I think he/she may be molting, but the one in this picture is named "Shelly", Kylie gave them their names, :)

Day 6 - Here is our biggest crab, Rocky!  This is the first one we bought and I am happy to show him off, because he had a successful molt.   Most people assume hermit crabs are easy to take care of, but they require alot more than just a tiny container.  More on that another day, LOL!!
